Robotics for every K-8 classroom

Reusable robots, a curriculum for every grade and teacher training, as one Classroom Package.

True Robotics makes robotics programs for K-8 schools. Each program pairs a robot with a curriculum written for that grade and one-on-one teacher training. Students in grades 3 to 8 build their robots by hand, then code them. Younger students start with Treads, which arrives built. Robots start at $200 each.

How robotics works in the schools we work with

Three things happen in every True Robotics classroom.

  1. A student tightens a wheel onto a Pilot robot with a screwdriver beside the competition course

    Students build the robots

Pilot and Axle arrive as kits. Students put them together with a screwdriver, a wrench and a ruler. Treads arrives built, so K-3 classes drive on day one.

  2. An elementary student programs a Pilot robot in True Robotics Playground on a Chromebook while classmates test theirs on the floor behind

    Students code the robots

Students drag blocks into a program in True Robotics Playground, send it to the robot over Bluetooth and watch it run. No student logins.

  3. A class of students stands in a circle on the classroom carpet with game controllers while two robot kits drive between them

Students learn the math and science

Fractions and measuring with a ruler, speed and energy, balanced and unbalanced forces. The lessons teach them with the robot, not beside it.

Written to state standards

Treads lessons are written to your state's standards for each grade, kindergarten through grade 3. Math and science run through the Pilot and Axle maps.

Where the programs run

The same curriculum runs as a regular class unit, in science and engineering classes, and as an after-school club.

The four things educators asked us for

Two students share a laptop to write their program while a Pilot robot and FlexForge plates wait on the table beside them

Hundreds of educator interviews named the same four:

  • Time for new curriculum materials
  • Hands-on STEM activities
  • Access to expert training
  • Alignment with standards

True Robotics is on a mission to inspire students with robotics and make STEM education more accessible. We believe in providing every student the opportunity to learn with robots, not just the top 10-20% of learners. We do this by delivering research-based, evidence-driven curriculum, student-focused robot kits, and personalized training for educators.

What educators say

The True Robotics team was engaging, organized, and well-versed in their ability to teach and work with our students. My students were excited to build and program robots, and in a short amount of time, they were applying basic code to have the robots execute commands. The training and support provided were invaluable, making it easy to implement the curriculum and watch my students thrive.

Audrey BrooksSpecial Education TeacherWorcester Public Schools

True Robotics’ trainers were not only relatable and approachable but also top-notch professionals who created an engaging, supportive, and accessible learning environment. Their high-level curriculum design and hands-on activities made it seamless to integrate robotics into our lessons. Thanks to their training, my students have shown heightened excitement for problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork.

Questions schools ask first

What is the K-8 Classroom Suite?

The K-8 Classroom Suite is our answer to the four challenges educators named, and it covers kindergarten through eighth grade. It stands on three pillars: robot kits, curriculum and professional development. We have robots and robot kits, but we really pride ourselves on the other two pillars. Everything comes as one bundled, cohesive package, so a school has everything it needs to run the program well over the long term and keep students engaged year after year.

Which programs are there, and for which grades?

Three programs, one per grade band. Paving the Way with Treads (K-3) has curriculum versions for grades K, 1, 2 and 3, with 25 lessons per grade of about 30 minutes, used as a flexible tool in core classrooms such as math centers and ELA small groups. Taking Off with Pilot (3-5) has versions for grades 3, 4, 5 and General, with 25 lessons of 45 to 60 minutes in a unit that builds from day 1 to day 25 around the Pilot Robot Kit. Introduction to Robotics with Axle (6-8) has versions for grades 6, 7, 8 and General, with 45 lessons of 45 to 60 minutes; students build the Axle Robot Kit, then take it apart.

What if a teacher has never taught robotics or coding?

The lessons are built for exactly that. The presentations show students precisely what to do the first time they do anything, so hesitant or intimidated teachers can learn right alongside their students through the videos and the speaker notes. Teachers also get the self-paced Learning Portal, a 30-minute personalized intro session, one to two hour one-on-one training sessions and an assigned point of contact. We always recommend that teachers build the robot themselves, following the portal's build videos, before putting it in front of students.
